Bone Resorption is Mitigated by Treatment with Lithotripsy

INTRODUCTION Loss of bone due to disuse osteopenia remains an unsolved and debilitating problem. While some current therapies rely on weightbearing activities to promote new bone growth, disuse osteopenia often occurs in situations in which weight bearing or mechanical loading of bone is impractical, e.g. in bedridden or mobility limited individuals or in microgravity conditions. Hence, new therapy strategies are needed to prevent and/or reverse disuse osteopenia.
